Happy 2010

Dear Friends and Family:

It has been a strange and bumpy 2009.  My reflections are many, I won’t share them here as it is a time not just for looking back but also to look ahead.

We are looking forward to a new start, a healthier body, a wiser mind, and a sounder spirit.  As far as work and career… well, attached are Calvin’s thoughts on it!  :D  (thank you Bill Watterson)

Here’s wishing all friends and loved ones to have smoother journeys, happier days and lighter burdens.  Hope that 2010 is one that we keep in touch more too.

To those who remember, George Michael’s song Praying For Time was once a big hit, most recently resurrected by a teenager on Singapore Idol.  Although I’m reminded of another year passing by (this song is now on “oldielyrics.com”, by the way) – it’s unnerving that what he sang about then has come to pass again.  Perhaps never really went away?

Let’s also wish for 2010 to be a year where we cherish who we have, not what we own. To love ourselves and those around us more for the content of their character, and less the outcome of their accomplishments.

Happy holidays, and happy 2010!

Jo and Pat

================

These are the days of the open hand

They will not be the last

Look around now

These are the days of the beggars and the choosers

This is the year of the hungry man

Whose place is in the past

Hand in hand with ignorance

And legitimate excuses

The rich declare themselves poor

And most of us are not sure

If we have too much

But we'll take our chances

These are the days of the empty hand

Oh you hold on to what you can

And charity is a coat you wear twice a year
